Most memorable dining experience I’ve had yet: The Grouchy Chef!
Anxiety while hearing the rules… Wish I could’ve taken a picture of THE Grouchy Chef himself! The cloth napkins were “to protect clothing, ONLY.” We were told that if we needed to sneeze or blow our noses, we had to head to the restroom. And, if we wanted to wipe our mouths, we could only use the paper napkins to do so.
Pretty salad to begin our four course meal…
Soup du jour: creamy chicken soup with [I think] pinto beans
Seared wild salmon filet with lemon honey sauce & parmesan potato cakes. YUM!
The assortment of mini desserts was perfect. Coffee & blackberry (I think) sorbet, maple leaf cookie, the most decadent chocolate cake, rich cheesecake, & the perfect slice of Japanese-style custard.
After treating me to dinner, one of my best friends, Ren, drove me around so I could see parts of Boeing. :)
“The mama of all airplanes”
“Largest building in the world, by volume”
After a brief tour, we headed to Mukilteo Landing, where we met up with my family at Ivars, a seafood restaurant.

At Ivars, Ren & I ordered the “Germain Elderflower Squeeze.” Let me just tell you, this was one of the most refreshing cocktails I have ever had! It was Elderflower liquer (which has the most peculiar citrus-y flavor) muddled with lemons and topped with champagne! I endeavor to recreate this somehow, someday…
View from the restaurant, as it got darker… and colder.
MMMMM. You know what this is! Thank you, Ren for vouching for the reviews I read on Yelp!
So glad I got to spend some time with Ren in Everett/Mukilteo. :) I’m so proud of her for getting her job at Boeing & taking on the adventure of living on her own!
Thank you again for dinner, Ren! Miss you!
